Social and personal construction: Two sides of the same coin.
In: Raskin J. D. & Bridges S. K. (eds.) Studies in meaning 2: Bridging the personal and social in constructivist psychology. Pace University Press, New York NY: 3–33.
Our purpose in this chapter is threefold: (1) to make a case for social constructionism as a powerful and indispensable analytical framework for talking about the construction of meaning and for making sense of the experience of persons, particularly as these concerns relate to the practice of psychotherapy; (2) to open space for those committed to a social constructionist perspective to integrate into their own framework a more whole-hearted interest in and concern for the personal; (3) to begin to show how well social constructionism and personal construct psychology work together.
