Author W. Craelius

Biography:

William Craelius received his PhD in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University, and did Postdoctoral training in Neuroscience at Stanford University. In 1999 his team at Rutgers University developed Dextra, the first “multi-finger” controlled prosthesis, which was used by an amputee to play a short piano piece, broadcasted on the BBC. He currently is Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Rutgers University, where he founded the first MS Degree Program in Prosthetics. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the National Institute for Disability Research and Resources, and Fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineers.
